Waiting for Akira | Grand Rapids Maternity Photographer

On the occasion of Akira's birth, it seems appropriate to finally blog about this beautiful maternity session. My friend Nita and her husband Buyung are dear friends of ours. They are from Indonesia, have lived in the US, and we met in the Philippines! I had the privilege of taking photos of Nita, Buyung, and their daughter Io as they anticipated the arrival of their son - baby Akira. We took full advantage of the golden hour and gorgeous green rice fields near our home in the Philippines. It was a blast. I especially loved the outfits Nita chose. She is wearing an exquisite Indonesian lace veil in the shoot that she wore for her wedding. It just couldn't have been more dreamy.

Congratulations Nita, Buyung, and Io!!

She couldn't be more stunning.

These rice fields are very special to this family. Buyung (left) works here, at the International Rice Research Institute in Los Baños, Laguna, Philippines.

Nita repurposed a broken djembe drum, and I love that it made an appearance in this shoot.
