How to Design Your Home (or Labor Space!) Based on Your Enneagram

A Collaboration with Redfin

We've had a fun opportunity to partner with Redfin on a collaborative article called, "How to Design Your Home Based on Your Enneagram." Our Content Director, Shay, is also an interior designer, and she was invited to give brief advice on using the Enneagram to plan an intentional space — including the ideal labor space!

Shay shared,

"Take a look at the basic desire of your Enneagram type, and consider how you might foster that feeling where you dwell – or in your ideal labor/birth space."

Here's an example: If you’re a Type 2 whose desire is to feel loved, create a gallery wall featuring your favorite people and curate vignettes with sentimental items. A 9 who craves peace of mind: maintain a clutter-free space with a soft color palette and tranquil art.

Wherever you intend to give birth, it’s wise to set up your own home for labor. Chances are you’ll be there for awhile before heading anywhere else, and you’ll want to foster a space that’s most conducive to a comfortable labor experience. Learn more about supporting labor hormones here.

Do you know your Enneagram type? Check out the full Redfin article and consider how the advice from interior designers and Enneagram experts might apply to your labor space. Then tell us! We’d love to hear what ideas you come up with for your own labor space!

We love using the Enneagram as a tool for self-growth, and we’re super excited about any opportunity to blend the benefits with birth. Check out some additional Enneagram-meets-birth content below!

And don’t forget to grab your type’s affirmation deck at the end of this post…it’s the perfect addition to any labor space, and a wonderful companion all throughout pregnancy, labor, and beyond.
